Become the Best Version of the Current You

I am no different than you - humans concurrently searching for a purpose on this tiny earth. Although the situations we encounter may come from different sides of life's spectrum, the curiosity of our own existence will always be the constant shadow following our every movement. You may be sitting there wondering why I think we are the same. Right? Well, simple, we both walk this earth with an intention to be the best person we can, achieving the goals we believe will bring us the success we formulate within our minds.

We may sit here and wonder about the future. We may sit here and wonder about the past. Wasting time, we are all guilty of thinking about who we want to become. Looking for a role model, this slowly transcends into discovering our hero. However, in this situation, let's trend to the side of being self-centered; let's look up to ourselves as our own hero.

It always seems to be encouraged to become the best version of yourself, but what does that really mean? We could infinitely become better at being ourselves, so really that seems to be an unattainable goal that will, in turn, exhaust our self-motivation. We will continue to find flaws, working diligently to patch them up just in time to find the next to repair. In actuality, we are just running around the clock, literally, wasting this precious thing we call time. How about we begin to draw focus on the "current" self?

For the time being, instead of becoming the best version of you, strive to become the best version of the current you. The current you represents all aspects of the "now," if you will. Aspirations. Passions. Relationships. Short-term goals. Failures, and successes. Friends. Family. Lost ones. Loved ones. Teachers of life. Relationships broken. Relationships gained. From the greatest depths of your heart to the surface of your skin, and everything in between - physically and emotionally.

This is an approach we all should venture into because the future is simply too unknown and yet to be determined. The conditions, situations, and challenges will not be uncovered until we arrive at those crossroads. However, we know all these aspects about our current state and the life we are living. So, we should take advantage of this knowledge and master the current self. Forget about the past, focus on the now, and look forward to your future. Most of all, attain and develop a vision of becoming the best version of the current you.
